The Bookworm

The year is 3042.  The place, rural United States.  The name, Ausone.  I know they’re going to destroy this but I have to get my story out.  I learned about history from hacking into their databases.  They don’t teach history anymore.  All people seem to care about is Tube, an ancient video site that is filled with data.  They’ll never teach us about the wheel or the fact that rural neighborhoods today look like New York 1,000 years ago.

When I first heard about the Ban I was calling up D.C, or Dino-Carriage, and looking up stuff on the news on my holo-puter, a holographic virtual computer.  I’m saying this with definitions because I’m almost positive these things won’t last forever.  Anyway, I was reading the headlines and there it was in bold letters.  “The government has banned all writing and books.”

“What!?”  I shrieked, frightening the dinosaur and halting the carriage to a stop.  I stomped angrily to the Capital and while there I noticed people outside the ‘brary tossing books into a fire.  “How can you do this!?”  I yelled.  I marched madly to the Capital.  I thrust open another door to find the government’s B.O.D. or Board of Directors.  I ask them why and they just look at me and then say,  “Did you know that we haven’t had a war in over 200 years?  Nobody wants to know about all that war and hatred.  Nobody cares about the past.  All we care about is the future.”

Then they called security.  And kicked me out.  And I found this paper.  And started writing.  And I started thinking.  And they still can’t take away what I am.

I am an Author.
