2008-2009 Forms and Information
**** IMPORTANT CHANGES IN SPELLING BEE REGISTRATION ****
2008-2009 REGISTRATION: Beginning last year, all participating schools are required to register on-line and pay a $99 fee directly to Scripps National Spelling Bee in order to receive their materials for the school spelling bee. The deadline for this registration is October 15, 2008.
***2008-2009 Leon County Spelling Bee***
We encourage you to hold your school-level contests in November to avoid the holiday rush. Please remember that students in grades 4 - 8, under the age of 16, are eligible to participate.
The following timeline will be helpful as your school prepares for the 2008 Leon County Spelling Bee:
October 15: On-line registration to Scripps (www.spellingbee.com) made by each participating school
November 1: Intent to Participate form due to Shannon Ayrish, DeSoto Trail
Oct. – Nov.: School Competitions
January 13: Leon County Spelling Bee held at Leon High School 7:00pm

The Leon County Reading Council (LCRC) is a non-profit organization that sponsors the yearly Leon County Spelling Bee and receives no financial support from the Leon County School District or Scripps National Spelling Bee.
Please note that the Tallahassee Democrat's Big Bend Regional Bee will take place on February 16, 2008. Watch for Diego in this competition on WFSU.

The Leon County Reading Council continues to sponsor the Leon County Spelling Bee each year. The 2007 Spelling Bee was held Thursday, December 13, 2007 at Rickards High School.
